Values Stronger Than Steel...!

Bharat-Ratan Tata, an iconic corporate leader, retired as chairman of Tata Group after a 50-year run on Friday. He wrote to the employees of the Tata Group…

http://www.tatasteelindia.com/VSTS/videos.asp

Dear Colleague,

As 2012 comes to an end, let me wish you and your family all the best for the New Year. I hope that 2013 and the future years bring you good health, peace of mind and great happiness.

This is also the last time that I write to you prior to my retirement as the Chairman of the Tata Group and I want to convey to you how privileged I have been to have had the opportunity of leading this great Group over the last two decades through good times and bad.

Whatever has been achieved has only been possible because of the amazing spirit, the dedication of each one of you and the enormous support and faith reposed in me, for which I am deeply grateful and appreciative. I feel immensely proud of the manner in which the employees and the companies have come together in facing crises from time to time.

These have included adverse market conditions, natural calamities like earthquakes and tsunamis and gruesome acts of terrorism.

The memories of personal sacrifices, loyalty and individual acts of heroism will always remain in my memory, to reinforce the great sense of pride I have in having been a member of this team. We today are a $100 billion Group in revenues. Over the past 20 years our revenues have grown about 20 times and today 58% come from overseas operations. Our brand has emerged as the 45th global and the number one Indian brand.

Our products and services are present in 85 countries. We therefore have every reason to feel proud and feel confident in facing the challenges ahead. The difficult economic environment that we face in the current year will most likely continue through most of the next year.

We will probably see continued constraints in consumer demand, over-capacity and increased competition from imports. There will therefore be great pressure on our companies to reinvent themselves in terms of business processes and to dramatically reduce costs, to be more aggressive in the market place and to widen our product range to better address consumer needs.

We will also need to contain our borrowings and work hard to retain our margins. This environment would once again call on you for your support, your commitment and your dedication to achieve success in these somewhat difficult times. This seemingly gloomy picture however will be a passing phase.

I feel confident that the robust growth that India has shown over the past several years will be re-established and the strong fundamentals in the country will result in India once again taking its place as one of the economic success stories of the region.

The Tata Group will undoubtedly play an important role in the continued development of our country, providing leadership in various industrial segments in which they operate and living by the value systems and ethical standards on which our Group was founded. The future growth of the Group will be led in the coming years by Cyrus Mistry.

I am sure that he will receive from you the same support, the same commitment and the same understanding that I have enjoyed over the years. Tatas are a Group where I feel proud to have belonged and proud to have been associated through the years. I wish the Group, Cyrus Mistry and each of you great success in the years ahead. I hope the Group grows and shines in the coming years.

Yours sincerely,
Ratan N Tata,
Chairman, Tata Sons

Resolution 20-13...!

Today is last working day of the year 2012 or is it Monday the 31st of DEC...? Well, technically and officially it is but psychologically and philosophically it couldn’t be for the simple reason – we are not conditioned to consider any Monday as the last day – just like we are never taught to love anything and anybody unconditionally! Anyway, let’s get back to the point and this is not about ‘New Year Resolutions’, mind you. That has become quite a cliché and has lost its meaning as well as purpose.

I don’t know about you but I have decided following things as my routine – not resolution – for the year 2013. I am not suggesting that you should follow them or respect them, least you can do is you can learn from them and may find some inspiration, who knows! By the way it is not a copyrighted or patented material so please feel free to use, share, distribute or even brainstorm it...!

Untitled

1.       Review last year’s ‘wish-list’ and see what else could be eliminated further from it.

2.       Continue the morning yoga without fail irrespective of the location, condition or situation.

3.       Learn at least three more things that has never attempted yet, swimming could be one.

4.       Help at least three more people to understand, analyze, organize and manage their being.

5.       Keep writing all the answers, blogs, comments and discussions on all social media regularly.

6.       Reach out to more and more people to spread the awareness of being and stir their conscious.

7.       Accept a project that would be good learning experience and still be beneficial to the sponsor.

8.       Visit one more country to learn their culture and sense of being, Thailand was great experience.

9.       Meditate more to gain even better control over the emotions, feelings, impulses and reactions.

10.   Socialize more to train the mind to understand other people’s point of view and respect it, however irrational or ‘imperfect’ it may seem.

11.   Make more presentations and conduct more seminars/workshops for broader audience and objectives.

12.   Stop expecting anybody or anything to be ‘perfect’ or ‘as-you-prefer-it-to-be’, this will not only help you feel comfortable but will also soothe the situation.

13.   Watch more theatre on stage, films in Cinema hall and ‘BUY’ some books to read that will grace the library like ‘BECAUSE HE IS’ by Meghna Gulzar.

14.   Enjoy few, if not all, weekends by outing with family and friends to develop that connect and strengthen the relation.

15.   Spend a long vacation with the people I want to be with and not have to be with.

16.   Lead the team by way of education and realization and not by rules and regulation.

17.   Control the tendency of being judgemental, try being more and more fundamental.

18.   Accept the things that are beyond your control and stop grieving for them.

19.   Develop the material for the ‘School of Being’.

20.   Live the life to fullest... in a natural way.

21.   Continue being myself...!

Why I stopped here? Have I run out of idea or words? Or do I think this is more than enough for a year? No... none of it is true. The reason I closed it at 21 is I love the golden rule of 21 which is applicable in the 21st Century more than ever. And 21 is the age a person hardly forgets in his entire life, I believe...!

Keep 21, Be Aware and Have A Wonderful New Year 2013!

Shark...!

The Japanese love fresh fish. However, the waters close to Japan have not held many fish for decades. So to feed the Japanese population, fishing boats got bigger and went farther than ever. The farther the fishermen went, the longer it took to bring in the fish. If the return trip took more than a few days, the fish were not fresh. The Japanese did not like the taste.

To solve this problem, fishing companies installed freezers on their boats. They would catch the fish and freeze them at sea. Freezers allowed the boats to go farther and stay longer. However, the Japanese could taste the difference between fresh and frozen and they did not like frozen fish. The frozen fish brought a lower price.

So fishing companies installed fish tanks. They would catch the fish and stuff them in the tanks, fin to fin. After a little thrashing around, the fish stopped moving. They were tired and dull, but alive. Unfortunately, the Japanese could still taste the difference. Because the fish did not move for days, they lost their fresh-fish taste. The Japanese preferred the lively taste of fresh fish, not sluggish fish.

How did Japanese fishing companies solve this problem? How do they get fresh-tasting fish to Japan? If you were consulting the fish industry, what would you recommend?

To keep the fish tasting fresh, the Japanese fishing companies still put the fish in the tanks. But now they add a small shark to each tank. The shark eats a few fish, but most of the fish arrive in a very lively state...

 THE FISH ARE CHALLENGED...!

Shark_2169294b

As soon as you reach your goals, such as finding a wonderful mate, starting a successful company, paying off your debts or whatever, you might lose your passion. You don’t need to work so hard so you relax. Like the Japanese fish problem, the best solution is simple. It was observed by L. Ron Hubbard in the early 1950's.

"Man thrives, oddly enough, only in the presence of a challenging environment."

— L. Ron Hubbard

The more intelligent, persistent and competent you are, the more you enjoy a good problem. If your challenges are the correct size, and if you are steadily conquering those challenges, you are happy.

You think of your challenges and get energized...

You are excited to try new solutions...

You have fun...

You are alive...!

If you have met your goals, set some bigger goals. Once you meet your personal or family needs, move onto goals for your group, the society, even mankind. Don’t create success and lie in it. You have resources, skills and abilities to make a difference.

Put a SHARK in your TANK and see how far you can really go...!

Cliff...!

In the United States, the fiscal cliff is a term used to refer to the economic effects that could result from tax increases, spending cuts and a corresponding reduction in the US budget deficit beginning in 2013, if existing laws are not changed by the end of 2012. The deficit—the difference between what the government takes in and what it spends—is projected to be reduced by roughly half through 2022, although the Congressional Budget Office estimates this will probably lead to a mild recession in early 2013. This sharp decrease in the deficit in such a short period of time has come to be known as the fiscal cliff.

Well, that is about America the powerful country on the face of the earth in more than one sense. Good or bad is another story. The people who have ‘Sale’ as national unanimous policy could be concerned about this imminent ‘economic’ development. What about the global citizen? What about the girl in a remote village of some underdeveloped and underprivileged country.

Thinking from part to whole, for the world as whole it is not only fiscal cliff, it is far more serious and threatening than that... A moral cliff! Exactly the opposite if I can say so. Right on the lines of the explanation of fiscal cliff if we try to define the moral cliff it would be “The consciousness effects that could result from greed increases, value cuts and a corresponding reduction in the living beginning in 2013, if existing practices are not changed by the end of 2012. The deficit—the difference between what the human contributes and what it consumes—is projected to be reduced by roughly half through 2022. This sharp decrease in the values vis-à-vis the price in such a short period of time would be known as the moral cliff”.

Movie-300-fiscal-cliff-2-620x374

So what do you do to counter this moral cliff?

Actually the answer is very simple to propose and extremely difficult to compose... Ask questions, collect answers, organize resources and take action. That is what you will do if you’re lost in an unfamiliar place, won’t you?

This simple one-line-four-part policy could actually save you. By the way don’t worry about saving the planet; it was there trillions of years before you and it will be there zillions of years after you. Moreover it has all the capabilities and conditions to sustain the entire cosmic phenomenon happening around it incessantly. If that wouldn’t have been the case, it would have not come into existence in first place. So stop crying to save the earth and save your species and others too if you are sensitive enough. The weirdest thing about it is, the moment humans cease to exist on earth it would not only recover itself but would be healthier, richer and greener in matter of months if not days...!

Widescreen_merry_christmas-wide

Now the interesting part is... where is the questionnaire I can refer to ask the questions? Although it is a vast and probably unending list for individual perception but in a broader and larger vision towards humanity and consciousness I am suggesting few questions here to provide an impetus.

If you are told that you will lose your memory for a certain period, would you like to go on a vacation during that period? It means – You will not remember where and how you went, what you did and what you enjoyed?

Make a sincere effort to probe into the length-breadth-depth of this question and a bunch of questions would popup at every moment of realization. This would get interesting as you keep going and rewarding only if you remain honest throughout the journey...!

Merry Christmas, Have a Wonderful Year Ahead...

Legends...!

The wise develop successors, pave the way for them and make room for them to walk on it. Two Living Legends of India, who have always been the prodigy of this notion, just did the same thing. One in the industry segment and other in country’s favourite sport, regarded as almost a religion with millions of devotees! It was neither sad or bad, nor even good or great... just natural.

Instead of making a big and totally unnecessary and insensible fuss of their retirements, it would be insightful and enriching to learn a few things by studying the glorious journey they had with high commitment and even higher aspirations and that is the reason Ratan Tata was referred to as Sachin Tendulkar of Indian Industry; it is an honour for both...!

Both these ‘Padma Vibhushan’ awardees, the most deserving of the honour, had raised the bar in their respective territories so high that now it’s their successor’s responsibility to either maintain the dignity and glory of it or raise it even higher if possible. What these two jewels in India’s ‘Taj’ have done is they marked the tracks as well as the beginning of the path to follow that will lead India  to the glorious era which was there in the pages of distant history of India.

Although there is no need to list the contributions of these ‘celebrities in its truest sense’, here are one of their quotes that I found most profound, characteristic and a life lesson...

I take decision and then make them right”.

Art of Listening...!

What differentiates Human from all other species...? Apart from the physiological anatomy, all other things like basic instincts and birth and death are common to all the species that breathe. However there is not a single example of any other species than Humans, not even the Apes, who has evolved faster and greater by transcending the boundaries of natural evolution by leaps and bounds. But where have they reached with this enthralling speed of development is another question though...!

There are two basic abilities gifted to humans but all other species – to be able to THINK and to be able to LISTEN. Here I would like to probe into the difference between ‘Hearing and Listening’. Hearing, keeping out the legal and administrative aspects of the term, is the ability to sense and feel any audible sound that falls on the ear membrane. It’s a different story that the interpretation of ‘Audition’ takes place in the brain and that is not our focus, at least for now.

As far as listening is concerned, I have prepared a very simple definition of my own – It is a skill through which a person I am trying to communicate to, hears to what I ‘mean‘ and not what I ‘say’, and assures me that he or she has understood what I meant exactly. Simple... isn’t it? Well, it really is if you can ‘listen’ to what I am trying to ‘mean’!

An interesting example of what people mean when they say something else is the expression ‘interesting’ itself! When a person exclaims ‘Very interesting...’ to your statement, 99 out of 100 times it means ‘That is clearly nonsense...’ and you take it as ‘They are impressed...’!

Listening forms the basis of communication – a blessing to the human beings and the foundation of civilized society we live in today. Active listening is the key to any communication and it is supported by following characteristics –

1. Attentiveness – It means alertness, concentration and energy to be willing to listen.
2. Empathy – This underlines the psychological connect with the speaker, feeling the emotions.
3. Perception – Ability to learn, understand and sense speaker’s perspective and intent.
4. Involvement – Response, feedback and agreement encourages the speaker to elaborate.
5. Generosity – Patience and sensibility to defer the judgement and reactive attitude.

The list could be bigger than this for the detailed analysis and study of ‘Listening’, but as the basics are right anything has better chances of getting fulfilled, so is communication. What good listening ensures is better communication and best possible output. This applies to anything that falls under the title of ‘communication’ but becomes most critical when it comes to business or professional communication for the simple fact that it affects the stakes of several holders at a broader level.

Most of the ambiguities, conflict, disorder and frustrations are outcomes of poor listening than inability, indifference or inefficiency of the people involved in the process. All leaders, managers and top executives has to be the best communicator than anything else as any task, process or project could be broken down to extremely simple and doable structure with the help of –

1. Objective – What needs to be achieved
2. Deadline – When it needs to be achieved
3. Methodology – What procedure to follow to achieve it
4. Resources – What resources would be needed to achieve it
5. Report – What the outcome should look like

If all these points are communicated in black and white and the ‘feedback’ is listened to at the outset, there are hardly any chances of the disarray that breaks into tantrums and panics. How many of you know that counselling is nothing but active listening...!

Stay tuned, Take care, Be aware and keep listening...!

Capitalism...!

In capitalism, the motive for producing goods and services is to sell them for a profit, not to satisfy people's needs. If you don't understand what it means, see the illustration below...

Dilemma...!

In a world full of broken dreams
Where the truth is hard to find
For every promise that is kept
There are many left behind...
Though it seems that nobody cares
It still matters what you do
Cause there's a difference you can make
But the choice is up to you...
Will you be the one To answer to His call...
Will you stand When those around you fall...
Will you be the one to take His light Into a darkened world...?

Cover_whyilove1-6_30

Oh... sometimes it's hard to know
Who is right and what is wrong...
And where are you supposed to stand
When the battle lines are drawn...
There's a voice that is calling out
For someone who’s not afraid
To be a beacon in the night
 To a world that's lost it's way
There are still some battles
That I must fight from day to day
Yet the Lord provides the power
For me to stand and say
I will be the one To answer to His call
I will stand When those around me fall
I will be the one To take His light Into a darkened world
I will be the one...!

Song...!

“We are all visitors to this time, this place. We are just passing through.
Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love... and then we return home.”

Harold-abbott-dr-harold-abbott-20576421-500-306

Do something for somebody, somewhere while jogging along life’s road.
Help someone to carry his burden and lighter will grow your load.
Do something for somebody, gladly; It will sweeten your every care.
In sharing the sorrows of others, your own are less hard to bear.
Do something for somebody, striving to help where the way seems long.
And the sorrowful hearts that languish, cheer up with a little song.
Do something for somebody, always, whatever may be your creed.
There’s something on earth that can help you, so much as a kindly deed.

PARADOX...!

WE LIVE IN THE TIMES OF…

…steep profits but shallow relationships,
More kinds of food, but less nutrition,
World peace, but domestic warfare,
Fancier houses, but broken homes,
Two incomes, but more divorces,
Tall men, and short character,
More leisure, but less fun…

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values.
We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.
We've become huge on quantity but short on quality.
We have learnt how to make a living, but not a life.
We have added years to life, but not life to years.
We have taller buildings, but shorter tempers.
We've polluted the air, as well as our soul.
We have more degrees, but less sense.
We spend more, but we have less.
We've higher incomes, but lower morals.
We have more conveniences, but no time.
We have more medicines, but less wellness.
We've split the atom, but not our prejudice.
We have more experts, but more problems.
We have bigger houses, but smaller families.
We have more knowledge, but no judgement.
We have wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints.
We have conquered outer space, but not inner space.

Diwali

We've been all the way to the moon and back

But have trouble crossing the street…
…to meet the new neighbour!

It is a time when there is much in the show window, and nothing in the stockroom.

This is a time when Technology can bring this message to you,
And a time when you can choose,
Either to make a difference… OR just hit ‘Ignore’…!

PS – If you can see the above text forming a Diwali Lantern, there is still hope…!
The least thing you can utilize this Festival Occassion to would be R-E-F-L-E-C-T...!

May this festival of light help you overcome
all the darkness, evil, negativity and… hypocrisy!
Have an Enlightening and Bright Deepavali!

Comment...!

My greatly appreciated comment on ‘Try Before You Buy: Why Smart People & Smart Companies Are Ditching the Interview’ by Hunter Walk on LinkedIn. This comment also helped me win 5 more invites to connect from the readers worldwide who loved it…

Ext

Dear Hunter Walk, (I doubt whether this is your real name, if it is, it certainly is doing justice to your point of view and profession, I guess!) its a good discussion you have brought on table, the only thing it would have made more sense on some HR or Consultants Group discussions and you might have got an opportunity to hear from a larger and specific audience. Anyway, that is your absolute privilege I would not dare to encroach. About the topic of discussion, apart from its little agitating title “Try Before You Buy” putting the invaluable human resources in the commodity category, the point what I understood is an arrangement wherein you can test the waters before deciding to dive full length. I have three points to mention in this regard

1.       Although this arrangement is already in place for many companies worldwide and should be welcomed by the others who haven’t tried it yet, it cannot and will not replace (‘ditch’ as you call it) the ‘Interview’ process as there is fundamental difference between the objective, patterns, process and outcome of these two. The closest example to illustrate this difference could be ‘courtship’ and ‘getting into relationship’
2.       I very strongly recommend and support this arrangement for all my clients and the word I prefer to use for this arrangement is ‘Probation’ – A testing period for both sides. There is a serious misconception that Probation period applies to the employee only. The truth is its a mutual affair and during the probation period employee gets an opportunity to learn more about the work culture and job functions as an insider.
3.       Finally, about the pros and cons, for commitment – It is always better to find out the level of commitment in matter of few months than finding it out after years together. For looking for better alternative, again it is always there and in today’s fiercely competing and ruthlessly aggressive customer-drives economies, everybody is looking for optimum returns in minimum time. Instant gratification is the keyword for both sides and either is likely to exit the obligation on the first better opportunity available, let alone the loyalty. And ‘Security’ in general and ‘Job security’ in particular is a luxury nowadays very few can afford. Or if looked at in a different perspective, only dumb or a conservative will seek. If the fish itself is eager to find a bigger net with a bigger bait, why the fisherman will care. Rolling stone ONLY gathers moss is the new career mantra.

To sum up my comment that is posing a threat to stretch longer than the article itself, I will conclude with – no matter what name or terms you apply to it, it is always better to test drive a vehicle before starting the race... that is what the business has turned to lately in more than one manner.

Thanks for stimulating my brain to burn a chunk of grey cells...

Regards and continue the Hunter Walk!

Wonderland...!

The Cat only grinned when it saw Alice. It looked good- natured, she thought: still it had very long claws and a great many teeth, so she felt that it ought to be treated with respect.
`Cheshire Puss,’ she began, rather timidly, as she did not at all know whether it would like the name, however, it only grinned a little wider. `Come, it’s pleased so far,’ thought Alice, and she went on. `Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?’

`That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,’ said the Cat.

`I don’t much care where...’ said Alice.

`Then it doesn’t matter which way you go...’ said the Cat.

`...so long as I get SOMEWHERE,’ Alice added as an explanation.

`Oh, you’re sure to do that,’ said the Cat, `if you only walk long enough.’

Alice felt that this could not be denied, so she tried another question.
`What sort of people live about here?’

`In THAT direction,’ the Cat said, waving its right paw round, `lives a Hatter and in THAT direction,’ waving the other paw, `lives a March Hare. Visit either you like, they’re both mad.’

`But I don’t want to go among mad people,’ Alice remarked.

`Oh, you can’t help that,’ said the Cat `we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad.’

`How do you know I’m mad?’ said Alice.

`You must be,’ said the Cat, `or you wouldn’t have come here.’

Alice didn’t think that proved it at all; however, she went on
`And how do you know that you’re mad?’

`To begin with,’ said the Cat, `a dog’s not mad. You grant that?’

`I suppose so,’ said Alice.

`Well, then,’ the Cat went on, `you see, a dog growls when it’s angry, and wags its tail when it’s pleased. Now I growl when I’m pleased, and wag my tail when I’m angry. Therefore I’m mad.’

`I call it purring, not growling,’ said Alice.

`Call it what you like,’ said the Cat. `Do you play croquet with the Queen to-day?’

`I should like it very much,’ said Alice, `but I haven’t been invited yet.’

`You’ll see me there,’ said the Cat and vanished.
Alicewithcheshirecatgicleeprintc12011816_1
Alice was not much surprised at this, she was getting so used to queer things happening. While she was looking at the place where it had been, it suddenly appeared again.

`By-the-bye, what became of the baby?’ said the Cat. `I’d nearly forgotten to ask.’

`It turned into a pig,’ Alice quietly said, just as if it had come back in a natural way.

`I thought it would,’ said the Cat, and vanished again.

Alice waited a little, half expecting to see it again, but it did not appear, and after a minute or two she walked on in the direction in which the March Hare was said to live.
`I’ve seen hatters before,’ she said to herself; `the March Hare will be much the most interesting, and perhaps as this is May it won’t be raving mad... at least not so mad as it was in March.’ As she said this, she looked up, and there was the Cat again, sitting on a branch of a tree.

`Did you say pig, or fig?’ said the Cat.

`I said pig,’ replied Alice; `and I wish you wouldn’t keep appearing and vanishing so suddenly... you make on quite giddy.’

`All right,’ said the Cat and this time it vanished quite slowly, beginning with the end of the tail, and ending with the grin, which remained some time after the rest of it had gone.

`Well! I’ve often seen a cat without a grin,’ thought Alice; `but a grin without a cat! It’s the most curious thing I ever say in my life!’

Proactive...!

Last month, on my ego-wise blog, I wrote a story of a smart young prisoner helping out his old father to spade his potato garden right from inside the prison and I called him 'Management Guru.' http://ego-wise.blogspot.in/2012/10/an-old-man-lived-alone-inminnesota.html

Today I tried to explore the difference between bein 'Proactive and Reactive' on LinkedIn and was on lookout for a easy yet profound story to elaborate that discussion... well, GOD is great! I got this story in one of my mailboxes just at the right time and most apt. I couldn't find a better example of PROACTIVENESS than what George did...!
George Phillips , an elderly man, from Meridian, Mississippi, was going up to bed, when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window. George opened the back door to go turn off the light, but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things.
He phoned the police, who asked "Is someone in your house?"
He said "No, but some people are breaking into my garden shed and stealing from me..."
Then the police dispatcher said "All patrols are busy. You should lock your doors and an officer will be along when one is available."
George said, "Okay."
He hung up the phone and counted to 30. Then he phoned the police again.
"Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people stealing things from my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now because I just shot them." and he hung up.
In five minutes, six Police Cars, a SWAT Team, a Police Dog, Fire Truck, a Paramedic reached his residence and caught the burglars red-handed.
One of the Policemen said to George, "I thought you said that you'd shot them!"
George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available...!"

Missing...!

Every time I reach for the newspaper in the morning, I have to put all my brains and minds in finding the news that seems dumped amidst the advertisements, mainly of real estate and automobiles. And once I am there and about to hit the ‘Eureka’ note, I am taken aback by a doubt... is it the real NEWS or someone’s VIEWS...?

It was long time Indian readers swallowed the ‘Paid NEWS’ concept and went even further to mature enough to take ‘A Few Cr. Property Advertise’ promising the-stay-in-heaven as the front-page ‘Made NEWS’ on the reputed and so called whistle-blower, socially aware and fearlessly neutral newspaper. The last hope of common man as ‘the reliable source of information’ is seen adopting a more or less strategy of its younger but more popular sibling – Television – the spoiled rich brat kind of a media that already presumed to lure the celebrities and commercials to focus the TRP and make quick bucks than understand the gravity and say loud ‘...it sucks...’

Why I brought all this today as it is not the first time this has happened, I know, but what agitated me like hell for the last week was NEWS of ‘Gauri Bhosle Missing’. It turned out that the real story was something different and the Media – supposedly responsible and reliable source of information – used this NEWS for marketing and TRP and reaching the peak of being absolutely ignorant and shameless; used a profile picture of a girl from Facebook! You can read the whole story on this link.

This incidence reminded me of a Hollywood movie ‘Mad City’, brilliantly expressed by the over-sensitive Dustin Hoffman and incredible John Travolta, despite of being the most powerful film of 1997, remained most underrated.http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119592/

Mad City

Finally, all I need is ‘answer’ to a disquieting question, as usual.

What really is MISSING...

1. Reliability of the media...

2. Sense and logic of the viewers...

3. Ethics and values of the sellers...

4. Cognition of the governing bodies... OR

5. Difference between Entertainment and Information OR NEWS and VIEWS...?

Stay tuned and Be Aware...!

Perspective...!

If we could shrink the earth's population to a village of precisely 100 people, with all the existing human ratios remaining the same, it would look something like the following:
There would be:

57 Asians
21 Europeans
14 from the Western Hemisphere, both north and south
8 Africans

52 would be female
48 would be male
70 would be non-white
30 would be white

70 would be non-Christian
30 would be Christian
89 would be heterosexual
11 would be homosexual

6 people would possess 59% of the entire world's wealth
And all 6 would be from the United States.
80 would live in substandard dwellings
70 would be unable to read.

50 would suffer from malnutrition
1 would be near death; 1 would be near birth
1 (yes, only 1) would have a college education
1 would own a computer.

When one considers our world from such a compressed perspective, the need for acceptance, understanding and education becomes glaringly apparent. The following points are also something else to ponder...

If you woke up this morning with more health than illness...
...you are more blessed than the million who will not survive this week.

If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation...
...you are ahead of 500 million people in the world.

If you can attend religious activities without fear of arrest, torture, or death...
...you are more blessed than three billion people in the world.

If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep...
...you are richer than 75% of this world.

If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace... you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

If your parents are still alive and still married and live with you...
...you are very rare...!

If you can read this you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world that cannot read at all...

Stay tuned and look into the P-E-R-S-P-E-C-T-I-V-E...!

Yoke...!

A Monarch of long ago had twin sons. As they grew to young manhood, the king sought a fair way to designate one of them as crown prince. All who knew the young men thought them equal in intelligence, wit, personal charm, health, and physical strength. Being a keenly observant king, he thought he detected a trait in one which was not shared by the other.

Calling them to his council chamber one day, he said,

"My sons, the day will come when one of you must succeed me as king. The weight of sovereignty is very heavy. To find out which of you is better able to bear them cheerfully, I am sending you together to a far corner of the kingdom. One of my advisors there will place equal burdens on your shoulders. My crown will one day go to the one who first returns bearing his yoke like a king should."

In a spirit of friendly competition, the brothers set out together. Soon they overtook an aged woman struggling under a burden that seemed far too heavy for her frail body. One of the boys suggested that they stop to help her. The other protested:

"We have a saddle of our own to worry about. Let us be on our way."

The objector hurried on while the other stayed behind to give aid to the aged woman. Along the road, from day to day, he found others who also needed help. A blind man took him miles out of his way, and a lame man slowed him to a cripple's walk.

Eventually he did reach his father's advisor, where he secured his own yoke and started home with it safely on his shoulders. When he arrived at the palace, his brother met him at the gate, and greeted him with dismay.

He said, "I don't understand. I told our father the weight was too heavy to carry. However did you do it?"

The future king replied thoughtfully,

"I suppose when I helped others carry their yoke, I found the strength to carry my own."

Stay tuned and find your strength...!
